From an early age, Kate played piano and made up melodies. One morning, a song with questionable content came on the car radio and Kate asked her mom "Won't he get in trouble for saying that?" Her mom replied, "No - You can say whatever you want to in a song!" At that moment, Kate knew she wanted to be a songwriter.

Watching her parents write and perform original songs around their hometown of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Kate and her brother naturally liked to perform for friends and family. By the time Kate moved to Joplin, Missouri for college, she was writing original songs on piano and opening for friends' bands in the tri-state area.

After graduating from Ozark Christian College, Kate and her husband, Timmy, worked with students in Keokuk, Iowa. Wanting to get back into songwriting, a friend encouraged Kate to begin writing one song every day. With a little new material, she formed a band with her husband and a few friends until Timmy and Kate moved to Arkansas together.

Back in Fayetteville, friends introduced Kate to co-writing. They started a "Share Whatcha Write Night" together inviting area writers to come eat, drink, and share songs for feedback, encouragement, and inspiration. This led to conferences, workshops, and writing communities until the pandemic started.

Opportunities to write with people all over the country opened up. Now Kate is excited for upcoming opportunities to lead worship, play original songs, and co-write with other musicians and artists in Northwest Arkansas. She's a staff writer and board member with Diamonds Worship, and a writer with Hymnal Records.
